Dave Winer has posted to Scripting News since the nineties, and the format has barely changed: a date, a few short items, links, opinions, the work in progress. I always wanted one of those and never kept one going. My business sites have guides and case studies, and they read like it. They are finished things. Most of what I actually do all day is unfinished, and it was going nowhere.
So this is that weblog, built the way I build everything now. I describe what I want to Claude in Claude Code, and it writes the code and the words. Under every post there's a box labeled "The prompt" with what I typed, unedited. If the post says something I didn't mean, you can see where it came from. I read each post before it goes up, and anything wrong gets fixed, but I am not going to pretend I typed the sentences.
The reason is memory. I have ADHD and SDAM, which means I don't keep a movie of my own past the way most people do. In September I built Blackbox, a command-line secretary that writes my diary every night because I won't. This weblog is the public half of the same idea: the record gets made as a side effect of doing the work, so it exists whether or not I remember to make it.
Expect posts about Blackbox, about Claude and Claude Code, about ChatGPT and Codex when I use them, about GitHub, and about client work with the names filed off. The projects page keeps a running status of everything. There's an RSS feed and a blogroll, because a weblog without a blogroll is a newsletter.
